Student Dashboard Encourages
Self-Monitoring |
|
A new learner-centered dashboard visually engages students by helping them understand their reading ability in relation to grade level standards and the standard they will need for a college or career. Students can easily see their Lexile measure change over time and understand how their growth compares to the average gain by a student in their grade, as well as where they stand in relation to Common Core stretch bands. Students can set realistic and achievable short-term goals for a school year using the Lexile Framework, which will clearly show them whether their reading level is improving. By reading passages at a level that is best for reading growth and instantly seeing their Lexile measure, they also gain awareness of the effectiveness of their reading practice. All parts of Total Reader--the high-interest passages, the instant feedback and the dashboard--are designed to give students a positive experience in taking responsibility for monitoring their reading progress.
